Asha, a homemaker, spent years stitching clothes only for her family, never imagining that the same needle could stitch together a new future. Life changed when illness and the pandemic disrupted her husband’s work, pushing the family into debt and uncertainty.

Determined to support her family, Asha enrolled in the Cutting and Tailoring course at the Donaldson Skill Development Centre. What began as familiar handwork soon turned into a pathway to confidence, income, and independence. She learned new designs, business basics, and most importantly, how to see her skills as a livelihood.

Today, Asha runs a tailoring and cosmetic shop and earns around Rs.16,000 each month. Her income has helped her family clear debts, support their children’s education, and improve their home. She has purchased new machines and continues to grow her business.
“I once stitched only for my family, now I stitch a future for all of us.”
